In May 2026, one third of Plymouth City Councillors will be up for election. In South West Devon, this means that an election will be held in the following wards:
- Plymstock Radford
- Plymstock Dunstone
- Plympton St Mary
- Plympton Chaddlewood
There will be no election in Plympton Erle, which has an additional "fallow" year because the ward only has two councillors.
Who can I vote for?
Your local Conservatives are selecting strong local voices for each of the wards.
So far, we've announced the following candidates:
- Dr John Mahony for Plymstock Radford
- Andy Lugger for Plymstock Dunstone
- Natalie Harrison for Plympton St Mary
Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for further announcements.
How do I tell the candidates what's important to me?
To make it easy for you to provide feedback to our candidates and share what is important to you, we have launched two dedicated surveys:
How do I register to vote?
Don't lose your voice. Registering to vote takes less than five minutes and can be done on the government's website:
https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
To check if you are registered to vote or for more information, email [email protected] or call Plymouth City Council on 01752 304 866.
How do I apply for a postal vote?
If you're away on polling day or can't make it to a polling station, don't lose your voice and register for a postal vote. Postal voting is quick and easy, and you can register for a postal vote on the government's website:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
Does my postal vote expire?
Following a change in the law, postal voters must reapply for their postal vote every three years. This means that if you applied for a postal vote on or before 30th January 2024, you must reapply ahead of the City Council elections next year or your postal vote will be cancelled.
You can reapply for a postal vote on the government's website:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
What photo ID do I need?
If you're voting at a polling station, you are now required to show photo ID when casting your vote.
